Key responsibilities

Participations / Company Management

  • Active management of Allianz investment structures / companies for the global real estate portfolio on behalf of our international investors during the whole investment life-cycle (buy-manage-sell)
  • Review of periodic consolidated fund reporting (IFRS, INREV, local GAAP) and performance data for our Joint Venture and Fund Investments
  • Drive the ongoing (re-) financing and restructurings
  • Steering liquidity position of property companies incl. Ensuring timely funding. Determination of cash amounts to be distributed.
  • Support in the acquisition phase of upcoming investments, such as negotiation of reporting requirements, specific accounting related requests, funding / capital calls, set up of the respective structures / companies and processes with internal and external counterparties
  • As ARE ramps up more fund-structured products, support fund controlling activities such as preparation of capital calls and distribution notices for investors, reconciliation of Registrar, Transfer Agent and Fund Accountant data and liaise with Fund Managers and Investors and other stakeholders

Financial Planning and Controlling

  • Preparation of planning data and forecasts for investment structures / companies by using sound modeling techniques and monitor execution of planning results by means of regular KPI dashboards
  • Presentation of financial performance reports to AREs Executive Committee and investors
  • Challenging our external investment partners and service providers on costs (legal, advisory,), taxes, and corporate finance best practice
  • Controlling of investment structures / companies including external service providers, cash / capital management, auditors and tax advisors oversight
  • Delivery of investment data (eg fair value of participations) and returns into various financial reports including analysis and proper presentation of the output

Process and Project Management

  • Be the interface between internal asset and investment management, external fund managers and co-investment partners and various Allianz internal stakeholders
  • Building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders such as the real estate investment team, investor accountants and cash management in addition to external managers
  • Drive the ongoing development of the IPC area, in particular:
    • Drive development and implementation of effective controlling tools, methods and procedures
    • Enhancement and implementation of reporting systems for investors and in-house stakeholders
    • Lead transformational and IT projects within the finance area as well as various ad-hoc projects to address pressing issues facing IPC

Key requirements / skills / experience

  • Successfully completed study degree (ideally specialized in one of controlling, accounting, tax or finance)
  • 6+ years experience in a comparable position, eg audit company, controlling, investment management and / or accounting department, ideally combined with experience in the real estate asset and investment management sector
  • Sound knowledge of accounting principles, especially IFRS
  • Knowledge in German and / or US GAAP would be an appreciated plus
  • Spoken and written English skills at negotiation level are a prerequisite, 2nd European language would be an appreciated plus
  • Above-average commitment and persistence in carrying out projects and tasks in a highly transformational environment
  • Solutions-oriented and positive mind-set, self-initiative
  • Outstanding analytical and conceptual skills
  • Strong communication skills and persuasive power
  • Used to work in a multicultural business environment
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office products, in particular Excel
