The United States is confirmed as the “master” of world basketball at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Dream Team won the next gold medal at the Olympic Games after defeating France in the grand final with the result 87-82. Greg Popovich’s team avenged that loss in their group debut match against the French by winning the 4th gold medal in a row after successes in Beijing, London and Rio De Janeiro. The credit goes to Kevin Durant, the leader of the Dream Team who won the third gold medal in his career at the Olympic Games, while for the “turkeys” this was the third silver. Kevin Durant was undoubtedly the best on the floor for the Americans with 29 points 6 rebounds and 3 assists being declared the MVP of the meeting in a match which Dream Team started calmly but managed to manage the narrow advantage which took that in the middle of the first period and guarded it fanatically until the end of the meeting.
In France, which eliminated Slovenia more in the semifinals, the fatigue of that battle against the Balkans was felt. Rudy Gobert and Evan Fournier scored 16 points each for the “turkeys”, while Yabusele and De Colo added another 25 points in total, very little to aim for the gold medal. Jason Tatum also stood out among the Americans with 19 points, while Holiday and Damian Lillard were satisfied with only 11 points each. For the United States this was the 16th gold medal in the entire history of the Olympics, while Kevin Durant became the first basketball player to win three gold medals in his career, all three in a row, and he does so at the age of 32 -years old.
